What brands of caulking do you use?

We use tried and tested marine grade caulkings, sealants, mastics and adhesives depending on the application. Be it bedding, beauty beads, structural, color-based or adhesion. Our preferred products are:

Sika Sikaflex 295 UV (black or white 1-component polyurethane adhesive of paste-like consistency that cures on exposure to atmospheric moisture. It is suitable for interior and exterior sealing applications and to bond organic glass in the Marine business)
Sika Sikaflex 290 DC PRO (black one-component, UV-resistant polyurethane sealant specifically formulated for caulking joints in timber marine decks, including teak)
Teakdecking Systems SIS 440 (a one-part, black, white or grey paste-like neutral cure formulation, developed mainly for teak decking seams and provides better adhesion, longevity and appearance as compared to polysulfides, polyurethanes and MS polymers)
SABA Sabatack 760 XXL (black elastic MS polymer-based window adhesive and sealant with high initial bond strength)
SABA Sabatack 780 (black, white or grey MS polymer-based, 1‑component versatile construction adhesive for structural bonding of metal, profiles, and various substrates)

What brands of varnish do you use?

What brands of caulking do you use?

Durability, environment, drying time, ease of use, application method and gloss levels are key factors in choosing the most suitable varnish. Our preferred products are:

Awlgrip Awlbrite (buffable, high build, three component clear urethane used as topcoat for the Ultimate Brightwork System)
Awlgrip Awlspar (phenolic tung oil varnish used for brightwork protection against water and weather)
Awlgrip Awlwood Clear/ Satin Matte (non-yellowing polymer, stabilized with high performance UV absorbers bonded directly to the resin)
Interlux Perfection Plus (a high-end, two-part linear polyurethane clear varnish. Lasts ~4× longer than normal one-part varnishes)
Epifanes Gloss/ Clear/ Matte/ Rubbed Effect (tung oil, phenolic-modified alkyd resins and maximum UV absorbers)
Pettit 1015 Z-Spar Captain's Varnish + 3021 (phenolic and alkyd resins with tung and linseed oils to provide excellent performance)
Pettit V-975 Z-Spar Captain's Varnish Satin Sheen (pale, durable, long lasting polyurethane coat is water and alcohol-resistant for interior use)

What machinery do you use for teak decking and recaulking?

For (re)caulking we use electric caulking guns for cartridges as well as sausages for best consistency and high volume applications.
For wood working we use Festool tracksaws, circular saws, dust extractors, routers and orbital and geared sanders, FEIN oscillating tools and Mirka sandpaper.
